"Today I wanted to leave this earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I'd get to such a low point,” R&B singer Kehlani posted March 29, 2016 on Instagram. Have you ever thought about taking your life? Has life gotten so tough that suicide was an option? The enemy’s first stop on trying to steal your purpose is creeping into your mind. The enemy also wants you to think that you’re the only one who has even thought that way. That's a lie. A lot of people think about suicide.
As a Christian, we are taught to pray and “tell God all about your problems,” but what happens when you are praying and it doesn't seem to be helping? Suicide has been a thought of mine throughout my life. Yes, I admit that as a tongue talking, fire baptized, bible toting Christian I have battled with the thought of suicide. "If you take me tonight God I will be with you,” I whispered for a year straight. My life had become unbearable. I was serving God with everything I was, and going home depressed taking anxiety medication. Suicide is a real thought. It takes the lives of many loved ones.
I shared my thoughts to encourage you. It's normal to have down days. If you are having these thoughts don't be ashamed to talk about it or get professional help. I did and it really did help. God gives wisdom and part of that is seeking professional help when needed. 1 Peter 5:10 (Amp) states “and after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts all blessing and favor], who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.” This scripture states that you will suffer or have bad days but don't allow the enemy to trick you. The suffering will only last a little while. Look again at the scripture, it states “little while” meaning it won't last forever. Do not make a permanent decision based on temporary circumstances. Take a look at the end of the scripture: God himself will complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you! After the trial, God promises that he will step in and hook you up! Don't abort the process because it hurts. Suicide does not have to be your fate, it's a thought fueled by emotion. In the words of Chris Brown, "emotions ain't loyal!" Today choose life and embrace your promise of 2 Peter 5:10. Know that your problem has an expiration date but you my friend can have an eternity with the King.
